MEET THE CREW

Bristol Baybes was born out on the back deck of the F/V Mjolner during a late night set. What began as a quiet dream has grown into a community-driven publication, with each edition gathering voices from across Bristol Bay and beyond.

Our mission is simple: to uplift the stories of women, Alaska Natives, and queer community members whose labor and wisdom are the backbone of the fishery. From deckhands to artists, bartenders to setnetters, these voices remind us that storytelling is not just reflection — it is culture-making.

Today, Bristol Baybes is more than a magazine. It is a movement to challenge outdated narratives of a male-dominated fishery and widen the circle of who gets to be heard. By amplifying underrepresented voices, we are helping to reshape how Bristol Bay is seen — not just as a place of work, but as a living ecosystem of resilience, equity, and interconnection.

Thank you for stopping by!
